Seriously?! Monday already? This weekend flew by. I hope everyone had a fun and safe 4th of July weekend.

First I am going to start off with a little history lesson: Saratoga Springs, NY has been around for centuries but this year marks 100 years it has been it's own city. Saratoga is my hometown. There is where my love for horse racing, victorian homes, good food, and big hats began! Saratoga Springs is known for it's historical and famous track, Saratoga Race Course and mineral springs.

My best friend, Valerie of Spaces by Valerie was home from Myrtle Beach for the week so we decided to celebrate. When Val and I get together we get dolled up, eat cupcakes, and just have fun.

Now I am going to be TOTALLY honest here.....I AM SO OVER TULLE! I have made more tulle skirts than I can count and only ever making one for myself. I was working on another project last week and came across over 10 yards of tulle in pink and in yellow I forgot I had. I then thought about the day Valerie and I had planned and all I could hear was her voice in my head saying, "Suck it up, Buttercup".

So I made the damn skirts.

Valeries is tall, has killer legs, and loves pink so it was only right I made her a mini skirt version. The one tulle skirt I have made for myself on my birthday was more like a tutu and I don't want to EVER be that fluffy......AGAIN. So I chose a more sleek knee length length version in the yellow for myself. I self drafted both skirts. Even though I am had it with tulle I am glad I gave in and made the skirts because we had a blast!

I want to say a big THANK YOU to Bob at the Carousel in Congress Park. He treated us like princesses!

Before we get to the fun - let me fill you in on some key dates to know for this summer if you plan to travel to Saratoga.

Opening Day at Saratoga Race Course: Friday, July 24th, 2015 Post Time: 1:00 pm

Hats Off to Saratoga Festival: Friday, July 24th-Saturday, July 25th, 2015

Fashion Saturday: Every Saturday beginning July 25th, 2015 at Saratoga Race Course. This weekly event is designed to highlight the tradition of style and glamour in thoroughbred racing at the Saratoga Pavilion each Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Local fashion retailers and spas will be highlighted throughout the Saratoga season. Prizes for the best dressed man and woman will be awarded each Saturday afternoon, including participation in a trophy presentation for the Fashion Saturday race.

Traver's Day: August 29th, 2015

Downtown Broadway - best shops and eateries Saratoga has to offer. If you are the partying type be sure to stop down on Caroline Street. Bars and clubs with massive amounts of people. Be sure after you have had a couple drinks to stop and get a famous Doughboy from Esperanto's. You're welcome.
